Please take five minutes to read the following:

This is a questionnaire designed by Nizam Balkhi to ascertain whether information systems should be used as an electronic Panopticon. The electronic panopticon is a set of ideas which views IT as a system of surveillance, a control system used by management. The idea originates from M.Foucaults discussion for a revolutionary plan for a prison (Panopticon) whereby each prisoner could be kept under constant watch 24 hours a day. Different versions of the electronic panopticon have been implemented in different organizations rendering workplace as a sort of a electronic prison. Examples of these can be found in places like Metro Tel. "Work Force Supervisory System" [Zuboff].

In using surveys like these the author wishes to ascertain that whether because these technologies and techniques exist they will therefore 1) be used primarily as a punitive weapon by management and/or 2 ) that if management seeks to use them that they that it will necessarily succeed or not, and 3) which levels in the hierarchy are more likely to implement these systems and benifit from it.
